8. Frequently Asked Questions.

a) Who pays for the Financial Intermediary Service?

The Department of Human Services pays MOIRA to provide this service.

b) Does the cost come out of my Individual Support Package?

No, the payment to MOIRA does not affect the amount of funding available to support the person in achieving their preferred lifestyle.

c) Do I have to approve all invoices, accounts and/or bills?

Yes, it is important that you (or your nominated representative) confirm that the service, support or equipment has been delivered. This gives you control and responsibility for how you use your funding. MOIRA cannot pay any accounts, invoices or bills where your authorisation has not occurred.

d) Can I change the way I use my Individual Support Package?

This is one of the best things about the new service. Each person will have greater control and flexibility in how they use their funding. This means that if a person thinks that it is more important to be able to use their funds differently, they can make that change themselves provided that the change will not cost more than the total funding allocation and that the change will allow them to meet the goals in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
